Would you rather have a longer school day and no homework, or get out of school early and have more homework than you already had? I would have to choose get out of school early and have more homework than I already have. I like staying at my house and then I can watch TV while I am doing my homework. Also, I would get to relax more at my house than at school. More homework means more learning, and I like learning. Now you know where I stand on this opinion.
Maddie Lester, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

I would rather get out of school early and have more homework. Only because if you get more homework it would only take about an hour. And you would not have to worry about anything else after homework. You might get a whole day of video games. You might have to deal with school tomorrow though. Those are the reasons I would go out of school early.
Madison Seay, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

I mean who likes homework? NOT ME. School is pretty fun if you think about it you have gym and recess. Math and reading is my favorite thing in school. Which one would you choose?
Myra Copas, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

I would rather leave school early, why? So I can hang out with my family more. I know it sounds boring but I go on my phone too much! So why not hang out with my family more? I can get done with homework really fast, so it won’t take long to get done with homework if I had more. Usually it takes half an hour to finish homework, it would take an hour or so if I had more homework. This is what I would do if I had a choice to stay at school and have no homework, or go home early and have more homework! Which would you pick?
Olivia Fraley, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

I think longer school with no homework because it takes extra time if people do school work only then when you get home and spend time with family and if you have an emergency you can just go or you have a job you can just go. It’s easier to travel. I think other people should try this too. It’s much easier than you think. Much, much easier. It’s nice to go somewhere once in a while and not do homework because if you go somewhere and you are late then you don’t have to do your homework. It’s much easier.
Payton Bixler, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

Would you rather have a longer day of school with NO homework or have a shorter day of school with MORE homework? Well a lot of people like to have NO homework but if you were at school longer with no homework it would be like you were at home with a lot of homework. So I would like to have a longer day of school with NO homework. But that is just my opinion, what’s yours?
Pazlee Roark, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

For my opinion, I think we should have longer school days with no homework. If you think this is a stupid opinion, after you read this, I bet you’ll change your mind. For one thing I don’t like homework. Not even a little bit. One time it took me 3 whole hours to get all of it done. The second reason is that if I didn’t have homework, I could just turn on the TV and watch anything I want! (As long as it’s “Hotel Transylvania” related.) The third reason, I get to sleep late. Since it’s a longer school day—I get to sleep late! This is why I prefer longer school days with no homework. I hope you’re convinced.
Reese Hoover, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

Personally, I think that no homework should be in place, even if it takes a longer school day. What I think is that people like teachers, tutors and our own leaders should get rid of homework. Some want more homework, but I think that they are almost the same because if you choose more homework and less school, it will take longer to finish, but if you choose no homework, you will stay longer. I think school is danger because you are in a place where there are strangers. Going back to our focus, I can take a longer school day, because you have more playtime.
Ryan Lick, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

Well, I would rather have a longer school day with no homework than have a shorter school day with more homework. That wouldn’t be cool. Having even more homework doesn’t sound fun, but with a longer school day you learn more and don’t have to have homework. You can also eat so many snacks it doesn’t even matter what you eat! It would be better too because you know more in one day. That’s my opinion on school. What would you choose to do?
Sammi Culhane, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

I would rather have a longer school day and have no homework. I HATE HOMEWORK! I don’t like homework because it is so and super hard sometimes. The only homework that I like IS NOUNS! It is all boring. All though I think only arts and crafts are the most boring things in the world. I hate homework what about you would you rather have a longer school and have no homework, or get out of school early and have more homework.
Sereniti Collins-Holloman, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

Would you rather have more school and no homework or get out of school early and have more homework? First thing is that what’s the point of getting out of school early if you would get more homework to last you, like a week! Second thing is that we go to school to learn not to leave. Last but not least is that we could not do our NIE! This is why I would stay longer.
Shaelagh Durland, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

I hate homework so…I would stay longer at school, and no homework. The thing is I would stay for 12 seconds. So yeah. What would you do?
Sharlotte Penix, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

If you could get out of school early and have more homework or stay a little longer and have no homework what would you do? I would stay longer so that way when I get home I could play. When I get home I like to play video games or basketball. I also get on my iPad sometimes when I get home. When I go to the YMCA I don’t want to do homework instead of basketball.
Timothy Bonsor, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

I would rather a longer school day so that I would have no homework. Then I would play Minecraft and finish my Indian longhouse. Then I would have a pillow fight with my dad. Then my dad and I would play outside in the back yard. That is what I would do if I had no homework.
Titus Hobbs, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

I would rather have no homework and a longer school day instead of getting out early and more homework. Because when you get home you don’t have to do homework you can just play your Xbox, go outside, and play inside with toys if you want to. The school day would be from 5:30 to 3:30. I would probably play my Xbox. Fortnite or maybe WWE 2K18, Madden NFL 19, and Skate 3. I would play outside if I can’t play my Xbox and I would play with my brothers or play with a friend we would ether play at my house or at their house. On my Xbox I would play with my friend from old school Sullivan Gardens or my new school Miller Perry, or just maybe play with friends at both my old school and my new school. If I play inside I would ether play down stairs my basketball arcade game called Double Shot or play with my WWE toys and my WWE ring to play with them in maybe I’ll just play with toy anywhere. I would ask if I could go to Just Jump or another trampoline place. I also have like 20 or 10 WWE toys I don’t really know but I play with them every night. What would you rather pick no homework and a longer school day or get out early with more homework and you could pick out of those two things?
Trever Keith, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

I would go to school longer and have no homework. A longer school day means a longer recess and lunch. When I got home I could play video games till I have to go sleep. I would learn more and I would be ready for tests. I hate homework, do you hate homework?
Tristan Chapman, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

I would rather stay at school longer and have no homework. School isn’t the best thing, but you have to go. On normal days we have homework every day. Even though, we would have short days we would have homework. Who even likes homework? Don’t you like my opinion, what is yours?
Yazmina Good, 4th, Miller Perry Elementary, Ms. Jeffers

Holston Valley Middle

I would rather have a longer school day and no homework. The reason is because I would rather go home with no homework. That is because I would spend more time at school. It also is so that I can help my parents with whatever they are doing.
Aaron Robertstad, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather get out of school early and have more homework because if you do that then you could spend more time with your family and friends. You could also go places with your family. Also, the teachers could grade papers faster than what they do. They also might want a little bit of family time with their kids and husbands. So that is why I would choose an earlier school day over a long school day.
Aaryanna Cross, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather have a longer school day with no homework. Homework is honestly a struggle to me. It’s not the fact of it being difficult. I just never have lots of spare time due to having daily chores. With longer school days, I would not have to worry about time management when I get home. It is also helpful to have a teacher by your side. I am also used to staying after school for my robotics program until 6 pm. the longer days really would not affect me. Besides, teachers have to cover such large lesson plans. So most of the homework they assigned is planned to be classwork. But due to lack of time, they have to assign it to be on schedule. Now with more time, we could finish all of our daily work in our class periods. This allows for us to finish our lesson plans and gives more convenience for teachers.
Alex Hamilton, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather have a longer school day and no homework so I don’t have to worry about getting it done. My life is very busy and sometimes I get home late. Having no homework would be a lot more relieving, even if I have to spend extra hours at school. Sports, family occasions, and holidays are all interfered with because of time and homework. You could be sitting at the family dinner table and before you know it, you’re trying to get homework done.
Anna Campbell, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather have a longer school day. When I go home with the homework I spend about 2 hours working on it so I don’t get to talk to my family as much. That’s why I would rather have a longer day.
Anthony Harley, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather have a longer school day and have no homework because we can get our work done at school and won’t have to do it at home and if we do it at school then we can get some help on it. And if I’m stuck on a problem I can ask for help. I would rather stay at school longer than have homework because some kids don’t have time to do their homework because they have sports and stuff. So that’s why I would want to stay at school longer. And school is fun.
April Odum, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather have a longer school day and less homework because usually after school I happen to be really tired after school and that means I have less energy to do homework. Next is sometimes people have extra stuff to do such as sports and that can make it hard to complete homework on a daily basis. The final reason is it gives the teachers more time to teach so you can have a teacher to help you when you need it.
Billy Parker, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather have a long school day with no homework. The reason why is I have sports. So no homework could save me a lot of time. If it’s a short school day I’ll have more time to do homework, but more work to do. So I’d just rather have no homework.
Blake Hayes, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather get out early and have more homework. I would choose this because I wouldn’t be able to join in any sports because it would be too late. I enjoy doing homework because it gives a summary of what we went over in class. Homework reminds your brain that you are working a certain subject. Longer days would make students have to come home late and have to hurry and get stuff done. They should go to bed early, but they would get home late.
Briana Combs, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather have a longer school day and no homework because if I have no homework then I will have time to do other things like play with my younger brother more. Usually homework prevents me from doing many things like drawing, sleeping, and playing my saxophone. If there was no homework, I would be able to do this stuff more than I am. I would rather have a longer school day just to relax and o basically nothing when I get home.
Caleb Smithson, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather have a longer school day and no homework because when you are at school and you have to learn every day and be there for six to eight hours you are going to be tired. So if you go to school for a longer period of time and have no homework you can go home and relax and not have to worry about it.
Chelsea Woods, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather get out of school early and have more homework. The reason is personally I like homework because it’s a time for me to just go in my room and be alone because I have sisters and it is hard for me to get alone time. So, if we get out of school early and get more homework then that means extra alone time for me. Believe me I can go with extra alone time!
Chloe Wise, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would do a longer day because you get more stuff done because you will focus on your work because the teacher could explain it more on longer days and it will make your social life way better because you have longer to talk.
Christian Ridgely, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather have a shorter school day. The only thing I don’t like about school is that all the classrooms are indoors. I hate the feeling of being cramped up all day. So if classes could include more outdoor activities, it would be great. However, they don’t. That’s why I would want shorter school days. When I get home I could take my work outside and probably get it done more efficiently without all the distractions. I feel like all the fresh air could help kids focus better, including myself.
Clay Sherfey, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather get out early and still have homework. Homework usually takes 1 to 2 hours. The extra time would let a lot of teenagers get a job at Food City or somewhere to help them buy a car to travel to school, work, or the movies with friends to have a normal life. If you make us stay longer we will be tired the next day. So yes, I think we should get out early and still have homework.
Clayton Carr, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather get out and have homework because some students have a lot of things to do after school some students may be like me and work outside and mow, weed eat, trim trees, cut wood, bust wood, and etc. students at school may like to get out early instead of having a longer school day. If you have a longer school day you may not be able to exercise, work, or who knows what time you would get home on a longer school day.
Dakota Carrier, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would choose option two because it lets me get out earlier. I don’t like being here for longer than needed and I need time to relax. About the homework, it won’t be too long because as long as it is not too hard for me, I will do well on it.
Darren Harless, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor

I would rather get out early and have more homework. A little homework never killed anyone…or did it? Homework helps your brain grow which means your head will gross in mass, I think. Well homework, evil or heroic, is still just homework. Five minutes later…Breaking News: the villain known as “more homework” has taken over the world and plans to turn us all into pink erasers! Boy, was I wrong.
Devin Depew, 7th, Holston Valley Middle, Mrs. Taylor
