Throughout the summer I was very busy with sports, family gatherings, and more.  Although I had a fun time with all of them, I would have to say my favorite activity was softball practice and softball tournaments.  The reason softball was my favorite is because I got to see my friends, meet new friends, and play the sport I love.
Kamrin Bishop, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Although I didn’t do much this summer, my favorite activity was sleep.  Since I had to wake up early during school, I recovered a lot of lost sleep hours.  Sleeping in during summer made me ready to start the next day.  I also dreamt about many things, including sleep.  Sleeping has to be my favorite summer activity.
Tyler Garwood, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activity last summer was fishing.  It was my favorite because it’s fun, relaxing, and exciting.  Fishing is also a good way to pass time.  I would love to do it every day, but sadly I cannot.
Jace Perkins, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

This summer I traveled to Myrtle Beach, SC.  It was black biker week, and there were a lot of awesome trucks, cars, and motorcycles.  One of them even had flashing purple lights!  Another had green rims.  Overall, it was a really fun trip.
Ryan Middleton, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

I mainly worked in and around the house.  Summer was really boring and fast for me but, I really enjoyed because it’s time from school.  I also just played games and threw a football.  Summer went by way too fast for me at least.
Jeffery Hurd, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

This summer was a packed summer, but my favorite thing I did was a Spartan race in Dayton, Ohio.  My grandparents came to watch my dad, my brother, and me all race.  My race was 2 miles long and had about 16 obstacles.  My favorite obstacle was the rope climb, because climbing a rope 10 feet covered in mud was really hard.  I also ate tons of food!
Waylon Ball, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Over the summer I first went to the beach.  It was pretty fun, but it rained most of the time.  After the beach, my mamaw, papaw, brother, and I had decided to go to Indiana to see my aunt, uncle, and cousins.  Unfortunately, my mamaw’s brother passed away, so we never got to go.  My other aunt works at 421 Market and from time to time she’d ask for help.  I’d help her out a little and I got paid.  Other than that I laid around and watched Netflix.
Lexie M., 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

This summer was great.  I did nothing.  The most exciting part was when I got a dirt bike.  For the rest of the day I rode.  The next day I rode, and went fishing.  The day before school started I help cut hay and fixed some stuff.  It was fun because I enjoy doing that kind of stuff.
Jacob Eldridge, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activity this summer was swimming.  My family all got together and went swimming.  That was our quality time together.  We hardly got any quality time over the summer.  It made swimming special.  What mostly made swimming special is my dad got to swim.  He worked a lot.  That is why swimming was my favorite.
Sierra Parks, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

This summer I went to the beach with my family.  I had so much fun, but I wish we could have stayed longer.  While we were down there we went shopping and ate tons of food.  We were only down there for a weekend, but I wish we could have stayed longer.
Shelby Moore, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

All that I did all summer was stayed at the house.  I really enjoyed it because I had peace and quiet.  I slept in until 3:00 pm and I got to play my guitar, even though I am not very good.  I enjoyed it very much.
William Scott, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

This summer I went on hikes in our area.  I went to Elrod Falls, it’s a small trail, with 3 waterfalls.  I like going on hikes and swimming under waterfalls.  I find it really relaxing.  I want to go on more hikes this fall.
Kylee Honeycutt, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

This summer has been a very good summer even though I did not do very much.  Some thing I did was very boring.  Like mowing the yard, cleaning dog cages, and baling hay.  Some fun thing was riding in my Jeep and four-wheeler.
Jeremy, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My aunt got a teacup Yorkie this summer, and I absolutely loved it!  Its name is Mia.  She has black and brown fur, is very tiny, and she’s fat.  I loved to play with her.  She was also very cute!
Shawn Hampton, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My family and I went to the beach this summer.  We did a variety of activities, but my favorite was putt-putt.  I liked that so much because I’ve always had a liking for golf and I love going through the different courses without knowing what’s coming next.
Laine Brooks, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite thing I did this summer was going to the beach with my family.  We went to Panama City Beach and stayed with my aunt in her house.  We swam, fished, and ate a lot of food.  I also brought along my dog.  I had a lot of fun.
Marcum, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

I played basketball pretty much over most of my summer.  Basketball is my favorite thing I did, because when I play, all my worries go away.  The family I made with my teammates on the court this summer was amazing.  In addition, basketball kept me in shape, because if I wasn’t playing, I was being lazy!  Over all I had a great summer, but basketball was what kept a smile on my face.
Tatum Cox, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activity this summer was when I went to church camp.  It was a time when you got to spend time with your friends, have fun, and most importantly learn about God.  We played games like “Capture the Flag,” and we had an obstacle course.  We even had a slip n’ slide.  The highlight of my week was that I got saved.  I wish we could have stayed longer.
Kylee Phillips, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Going to the beach with my dad was very fun.  It was by far my favorite activity this summer.  The third day we were down there was the best.  There was a storm far away from us but close enough to make the waves huge.  My cousin and I went out in the huge waves.  They were so big we couldn’t see over them.
Isaiah Cook, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Over the summer all I did was play video games and go outside.  My summer was very interesting because I killed zombies, hit homeruns, and broke ankles.  I played a game called “7 Days to Die.”  Basically, what you do was explore the world, find resources, and kill zombies.  I hit four homeruns in three games in my baseball All Stars.  Most of the time I was playing basketball I had friends over.
Lucas Parsons, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

This summer was very eventful; my favorite activity would be when I went to Emory and Henry.  This made my third year attending.  The Emory and Henry Summer Scholars Program takes place at Emory and Henry College.  Everyone attending stays in dorms and takes classes.  We go to a theatre at the end of the week.  The last day your parents come and you show them around.  This year has been my best.  I think it’s an amazing experience for anyone.
Adysen Gulley, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Hanging out with my friends was the most fun to do this summer.  We would hang out at bonfires, go swimming, go to the movies, or just relax at the house.  I would have to say the bonfires were the most fun.  We would have music, flashlights, glow sticks, and s’mores.  We played hide and go seek and tag which was pretty fun also.  This summer was one of the best ones I’ve ever had.  I’ll always remember this summer.
Olivia Rutherford, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite even was laser tag in Middlesboro.  It was a lot of fun because I had a great time with my friends.  That day when we played laser tag, Taylor scared me because he was hiding in a little corner and I knew he was there and I jumped around the corner and he shot me before I could shoot him.  I had a great day that day and I had an awesome summer.
Jasmine Crawford, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

I went to the beach and Splash Country.  I watched a ton of YouTube and Netflix.  Some of the YouTubers I watched were Roman Atwood, Jake Paul, Erika Costell, Chloe Couture, Brooklyn & Bailey, Tanner Fox, and Tanner Braungardt.  I spent a lot of time with my family.  It was a really fun and chill summer.
Alex Marshall, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Out of the many things that happened this summer my favorite was probably when I saw Dalton.  No, this is not a love story; it’s simply just a story about happiness.  Whenever Dalton and I are around each other we always smile, laugh, and have a good time.  It’s nice to be able to go somewhere and be yourself, also not worry.  I have done a lot of amazing things this summer but this was the best.
Ashley Shoemaker, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activity was the pizza part at the pool.  It was fun and energetic.  My mom wanted to spend family quality time with us so she decided to have a pizza party at the pool but she had to ask the church first.
Jacob King, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Summer was fun even though all I did was spend time with my family.  I stayed the night with my Granddad a lot.  He told my different things about what we were watching on the history channel.  I had a really fun summer.
Stacey Pilon, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite thing is I got to stay with Stacey.  We had fun.  My mamaw gave me some face cream and I was chasing Stacey in her house trying to put it on her face.  She hid under her blanket.  To me I had the best time of my life.
Tiffany Murphy, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

This summer I went to see family and went fishing.  Then when it was getting close to summer I had to leave.  When I came home if you don’t know I lived in Powell County but I got back and wanted to move up here.  So I did and what happened first was I joined MMA.  That’s when I made my first friend. We would train together every day do drills same old same old.  Then it was time to start school.  That’s when I got nerves.  Then it all was okay and that’s all the events that happened this summer.
Cayden H., 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

The summer of all summer was not mind.  I just set on my chair and play games and relax and I went to the pool.  The games I would play was Overwatch, Roblox, Infinite Warfare, and Plants vs. Zombies 2.  Overwatch I would try to improve my skill.
Avery Lawson, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

I played video games this summer and I swam.  I was mostly lazy and other days I had basketball.  My favorite part about summer was doing nothing and sleeping in.  I can’t wait for next summer!  I mainly like playing video games because I have fun when I play video games with friends.
Keaton McDonald, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Have you ever had the summer that you think is just perfect?  Well get ready to hear mine.  The first thing that I did was that I went to the Pennington pool with, I think about ten or eleven of my friends.  We had a great time there.  Then, I went to Sliding Rock, North Carolina.  It was amazing.  On our way there we stopped at a waterfall, so a couple of my friends and I tried to go under the waterfall.  It was amazing.
Shawna Hurd, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite thing I did this summer was going to Wytheville to visit my grandfather.  First we went to my mother’s doctor for a little check-up.  Then, we went to my grandpa’s house to change into our swimming outfits.  Finally, we went over to a pool and swam for a little while.  Overall, the only thing I’ve done outside home was go swimming.
Matthew Fleenor, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activity this summer was going to my bros house or my brother’s house.  Anyways a lot of people came up to his house and there were Xboxes and food so it was pretty lit.  So they played Kings with Mello-Yello.  It was a drinking game with Mello-Yello.  Those two nights were crazy.
Matt Rogers, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite summer event was helping my family get ready for school.  The reason why was because my daddy came home and surprised me with a new book bag and clothes shopping.  We had a great time and my favorite part was when we were in the checkout line we found a dollar.
Jazmine Stone, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite summer activity was going to Dollywood with my family.  We got to ride rides, eat good food, play games, and most of all hang out with my family.  My favorite ride there was Mystery Mine.  My whole family rode it.  To conclude, my favorite event was going to Dollywood with my family.
Grayson W., 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activities were working, mudding, coon hunting, fishing and staying at my papaw’s.  I like all that stuff because that’s what I grew up doing.  I will probably always do that; it’s my life.  I love to work.  Most kids these days sit on their phones and play video games.  I can’t just sit there for hours at a time and push a couple buttons.
Taylor Childers, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

This summer I went to an indoor water park and it was great.  Maybe the highlight of my summer.  When we were there I wouldn’t go on the slide, mainly because I’m scared of heights and because it was an enclosed space and I hate those.  But sooner or later I faced my fear and rode all of them.
Kaley Shupe, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activity was going to Dollywood because I got to ride rides and see my cousin.  We rode Dropline, Fire Chaser Express, and Rived Rapids.  We saw some show birds.  One looked like it had a tank top on.
Sean Paul C., 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activity is riding my horses, Bell and Sadie, through the fields of hay.  A day with them is so much fun.  Even though Bell threw me off I still play with her.
Jazmyn Smith, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

I was at my aunt’s house this summer and I was in the woods working on a food plot for deer season.  I have peas planted and corn and have bait out for the last three months.  I am going to take the bait up because it is not allowed to hunt over bait in the state of Virginia.  You have to take bait up in September because it is close to hunting season.  That is what I did this summer.
Ethan Lamb, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activity was relaxing on the couch and sleeping.  It was great.  I was watching TV, too.
Sarah Middleton, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Shane Woodard, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite summer event was volunteering at camp to be a counselor to the kids and sharing with the, what I know about God, my life, and being with my friends.  It was really relaxing to get away from home and open up to my great friends.  Also went to North Carolina with my best friend about four times.  It was a blast.
Amber Sweeney, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

The sun is shining.  The heat is coming in, and you think you’re going to do great things this summer.  Sorry, but I did nothing this summer.  All I did was sit at home and play video games, but we did go see my dad at a truck stop.  Plus, it was pretty fun seeing him and this is all I did this summer.
Mathew Ridings, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activity was babysitting.  I babysat all summer.  Some of you will ask, “Who did she babysit?”  I babysat for my sister.  She has two kids.  Snow (the daughter) is two years old and has beautiful big blue eyes, curly hair, and a sweet smile.  Dean (the son) is one year old.  He has beautiful big blue eyes, blonde straight hair, and walks funny.  They are both very sweet.  This is what I did for my summer.
Willow Dorman, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite summer activity would have to be climbing trees.  I like climbing trees because it’s just a great activity and a fun thing to do with my brothers and cousins.
Gavin L., 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

What my favorite event I did this summer was going to the bible schools around my house, going out late, and having cookouts.  I actually did a lot of stuff this summer.  I went to meet my dad’s girlfriend and her kids.  I like them a lot and when school did start I went to Dollywood.  The first two weeks before school started I went to see my girls because they moved away.  So that is really all I did this summer!
Brianna Miles, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Honk! I was sitting in the car halfway to New York.  I went to New York this summer, and I had a lot of fun.  When I went to New York, I rode my first subway, my first boat, and my first New York taxi.  Although New York was very busy, it was really cool and I had a lot of fun.
Dorothy Scott, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

Over the summer I worked and worked.  Sometimes I went coon hunting after I worked all day.  I spent time with my family also.  We went to Pigeon Forge and had fun.  I also rode horses while I was on summer break.  I had a wonderful summer.
Justin Lawson, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite activity that I did this summer was going to Norris Lake and going tubing with my little sister, Becka Dawn.  I wanted to go on that trip because I wanted to spend time with my family.  It was amazing.  I had the most fun when I went on the trip, until I broke my finger.
Kaitlyn Bear, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks

My favorite thing that I did this summer was nothing.  All summer I really did nothing but sit at home.  I watched a couple of TV shows such as Supernatural and Shameless.  I did go out with friends a couple of times but, sitting at home is still my favorite.  I also had friends come over but all we did was watch TV.  The main thing I liked about sitting at home was there was no drama.
Jesse Jennings, 8th, Jonesville Middle, Mrs. Brooks
