If a new student came to my school I would help them.  I would play with them.  Those are some of the things I would do to help a new student.
Joseph Solomon, 1st, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Light

There are many ways we could help on their first day of school.  We can sit by them for the day.  We can give them a happy smile.  We can give them a happy smile.  We can show them how things work in the classroom.  We can introduce them to students in the school.  These are some of the ways to help a new student.
Anna Brinegar, 1st, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Light

If a new student came to my classroom I would help them by showing them the school.  I would show them how things work in the classroom.  I would also play with them.  I would help them get their school supplies.  These are the things I would do to make a new student feel welcome.
Kayllen Lane, 1st, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Light

If a new student came to my school I would help by introducing the class to them and sitting with them.  I’d show them around the school and play with them.  These are the ways I’d help a new student.
Maddie Watts, 1st, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Light

Some ways to welcome a new student to my school are showing them around, speaking to them, and being their friend. I would like to show them around because I can show them what classroom they are in. I love to show them to their classroom and show them where everything is like the library, the office, the bathroom, the gym, and the lunchroom. It is really good to speak to a new kid because if you don’t speak to them they would think that you don’t want to be friends and it would make them feel lonely. I would tell them what grade I am in, how old I am, and what my name is. I would be their friend and won’t be rude to them. These are some ways to welcome a new student to my school.
Sarah McClellan, 2nd, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Rhoton

Some ways I welcome a new student to my school are complimenting them, showing them around, and asking if they want to be my friend. I would complement them by saying that I like his or her clothes and saying they are nice. I would also compliment them by saying they are smart. I would show them everywhere in the school including their classroom. I would show them the office, bathroom, lunchroom, the snack room, and the gym because those are the important places in the school. I would ask them if they wanted to be my friend because they may be lonely. I would tell them I would love to be their friend. These are some of the ways I like to welcome new students to my school.
Ella Lane, 2nd, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Rhoton

If I can welcome a new student I would say that this school is awesome and we do fun stuff. I would show her around the whole place. I would show her our classroom, the lunch room, and the office. I would also show her the snack room and where to go to the printer. I would show her where to go to put her paper up. I would show her where the gym is and what we do. We can show her how to play the games. This is how I would welcome the new student. She would love it, too.
Hayden Rhoton, 2nd, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Edwards

Ways to welcome a new student are to tell them your name, play with them, and ask them if they want to be your friend. When I tell her my name she will tell me her name and then, we will talk with each other and try to be friends. I would play with the new student every day and tell the new student about how much fun we have in our class. After we are done playing I will ask her if she wants to be my friend. We will be best friends forever and always. These are the reasons I would make a new friend to hang out with.
Braylie Chaffin, 2nd, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Edwards

Some ways to welcome a new student are: say hi, try to become friends, and try not to become enemies. A way is to say hi because you are welcoming them, which could be a good start to a serious friendship. Trying to become friends is a good way to welcome a new kid, so you could make this a good experience. One way to welcome a new kid is to try not to become enemies because you might ruin their year. You certainly don’t want to do that because they might not come back next year. These are some great ways to welcome a new student.
Connor Ratliff, 2nd, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Edwards

The way I would welcome a new student is being kind, friendly, and helpful. I would make a student feel welcome by being kind. I would let them choose what we could play. I would be friendly because I would be a good friend. I would play with them if they did not have anyone to play with. I could be helpful by helping them if they did not know what to do. I would also pick up their pencil if they dropped it and give it to them. I could get their lunchbox at lunchtime, too. These are the three ways I would welcome a new student.
Elizabeth Jennings, 2nd, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Edwards

I would welcome a student by being nice, respectful, and friendly. The reason I would be nice is because you get to treat other people the way you want to be treated. It would be nice. I would also be respectful. I would show them a lot of manners and love. I would be respectful because when you are respectful and nice to a new student, they’ll be nice to you. It would be great. And it would be a joy. I would give a new student nice compliments about how she looks. I would be friendly because it would be nice and sweet. I would say goodbye every time a student left. That would be friendly. That is how I would welcome a new student. It would be wonderful and it would be fabulous.
Cash Jones, 2nd, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Edwards

I would welcome a new student by being respectful. I would be respectful by listening, being polite, and being nice. I would be respectful by listening because they might like somewhere cool or they might have done something cool. They might live in New York. They could have ridden the Lightning Rod. I would be polite by being nice. I would also use my manners. This is how I will be polite. I would be nice by being friendly. I would also be trustworthy. These are the ways I would welcome a new classmate.
Max Taylor, 2nd, Hilton Elementary, Mrs. Edwards

These are the new ways to make a new student feel welcome. You could say, “You look nice” or “You’re funny,” and play with her. When you say, “You look nice” to a new student, they might be your best friend. I know because I did that before, and it worked. It’s fun. I like doing that. When you say “You’re funny” to a new student, he or she might tell you a joke. Don’t forget to be nice, happy, and laugh. Just be nice. When you play with a new student, he or she will like it. We would play tag. I would like to play tag. The best part about getting a new student is being able to get to know another person.
